About Me

THOMAS SCOTT

I am an award-winning documentary photographer and filmmaker currently exploring pressing issues around conservation, farming, and sustainability. Most recently, I have been self-shooting an original documentary, “Regen-a-Nation”. The film joins forces with two regenerative farmers to reveal how they are producing food while repairing soil and creating havens for wildlife. It aims to inform producers and consumers about the costs of intensive farming and motivate a change towards a regenerative approach.

My goal is to engage audiences with underrepresented subjects through visual storytelling. In 2023, I collaborated with Cornwall Wildlife Trust to produce a film celebrating their Marine Strandings Network; a group of 200 volunteers that monitor dead marine wildlife. The film raised the profile of their pioneering research and showcased the everyday heroes working at the forefront of marine conservation.

Currently in my final year of Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University, I have experience in all stages of film production, from research and development to camera operation and editing. I am an Adobe Certified Professional in Premiere Pro and also use DaVinci Resolve.

My practice has led me to produce projects with Lightbox Film Co.Cornwall Wildlife TrustOcean BMW Falmouth, and Lay’s Auctioneers. It gained national recognition when my photograph, “The Dispute” (below), received first prize in the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards 2020 (16-18 Years category).

I take an innovative approach to all my projects, utilising a variety of techniques from drone cinematography to run-and-gun shooting. Central to my practice is working closely with the subject and client to deliver the desired impact for their target audience. If you have a project that you would like to collaborate on, please get in touch.
